On Air News Producer

Job Description

Eyewitness News (WEHT/WTVW) serving the Evansville, Indiana, DMA is looking for an on-air producer.
The successful candidate needs to have strong writing skills, the ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines and a live show, the ability to communicate and lead members of a team, and the general knowledge and desire to stay on top of local, regional, and national current events.

Requirements & Skills
• Write solid, active & compelling news copy
• Build strong newscasts using informed news judgment combined with showcasing techniques
• Strategize newscast building based on knowledge of our audience, ratings and history of the area
• Ability to quickly adjust newscasts to accommodate breaking news
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Coordinate with the digital team to contribute content to other platforms
• Coordinate with the assignment editor and reporters to get the most relevant, interesting, informative and up to date material on air.
• Ability to work well under the pressures of a live cast and meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Contact newsmakers and perform research to add elements to shows

Required Skills

He or she will take all sound, video, and graphic elements and crafts them into compelling newscasts, and have the ability to take complicated data and information and relay them to viewers in a simple, clear, fair, and accurate manner.
In addition to producing daily newscasts, there may also be opportunities to produce special shows and work on special projects.

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Flexible to work any shift
• The desire and ability to stay on top of current events
